HYDERABAD: Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said that a proposal to construct housing colonies in four corners of Greater Hyderabad, each covering 100 acres for low, middle and higher income groups, is under active consideration of the state govt.
He was responding to media queries about affordable housing for the middle class sections in the city and elsewhere in the state.
Srinivas Reddy announced that the construction of the much-awaited Indiramma houses will commence before Sankranti festival, with a target to complete about five lakh houses in the first phase and 20 lakh houses in the next four years. He said 5 lakh financial assistance will be released in four stages of construction of the house.
Of the 80 lakh applications received for Indiramma housing units, over 32 lakh of them were scrutinised. The remaining applications’ scrutiny and survey will be completed by the end of the first week of Jan.
