Stamp and registry department to open office on March 8, 9, – Homevior

NOIDA: The stamp and registry department will remain open on March 8 and 9, despite it being the second Saturday and Sunday, to facilitate property registrations and boost revenue collection. Officials said the decision was taken as the financial year is ending this month and it has achieved only 80% of its revenue target of Rs 4,880 crore.

B S Verma, assistant inspector general of stamp and registry, said the move aims to register more properties and generate additional revenue. “In the financial year 2024-25, we collected Rs 3,902 crore so far, which is 80% of the target. This is an improvement from last year when we recovered Rs 3,585 crore against a target of Rs 4,728 crore (75.8%),” he said. He added that with Holi and other public holidays in March, the department may take similar measures on other weekends.

The department has set a revenue target of Rs 300 crore for March. This financial year, it has registered 12,325 flats under the Amitabh Kant committee recommendation, collecting Rs 465 crore. To expedite long-pending flat registrations, the department organised several special camps in high-rises, bringing relief to thousands of homebuyers.

“These camps streamlined the process, as officials from the registry department, authorities, and developers worked together to ensure hassle-free registration. Similar camps will be organised in other high-rises in the future,” Verma said.
