NAGPUR: About 376 villages from the Nagpur division will benefit from the central govt’s ambitious ‘Swamitva Yojana’, which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
The PM will distribute digital property ownership cards (Sanads) to over 50 lakh rural homeowners across the country. He will also virtually interact with beneficiaries during the event.
As per the statement issued by the district administration, the Swamitva Sanad Distribution Ceremony will take place at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall at 11:00 AM. Beneficiaries from six districts in the division will receive their property cards, officially recognising their ownership of ancestral and residential properties.
The event will be attended by newly appointed state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MPs, MLAs, District Collectors, and key officials, including Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, Deputy Director of Land Records Vishnu Shinde, and Superintendent of Police Abhay Joshi.
Bawankule briefed the media about the event on Wednesday, emphasising the significance of ‘Swamitva Yojana’ in empowering rural property owners by resolving ownership disputes and enabling access to financial credit. Special camps will be organised in these villages to distribute the property cards, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the process.
The Maharashtra BJP president highlighted that the modern technology employed in the scheme has drastically reduced the time and manpower required for surveying properties, ensuring faster implementation and greater reliability.
The Swamitva Scheme leverages drone-based surveys to measure and document properties, reducing errors and improving accuracy compared to traditional methods. Village-level authorities, including Gram Sevaks, revenue officials, police officers, and neighbouring property owners, are involved to ensure transparency and avoid disputes.
The scheme will also help Gram Panchayats in effective property tax collection, enabling them to become self-reliant and focus on local development projects. It promises to uplift tribal and rural communities by providing permanent property titles, which have often been absent in these regions.
With the launch of the Swamitva Scheme, the govt is set to revolutionise property ownership management in rural India. The initiative not only strengthens legal ownership rights but also opens doors for economic opportunities, financial inclusion, and rural development.
“The Nagpur division’s 376 villages will lead the way in Maharashtra, demonstrating how modern technology and governance can transform rural lives and secure their economic future,” the statement said.
