NAGPUR: With just four days left, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is urging property holders to take advantage of its property tax rebate scheme. Under the initiative, those who pay their full property tax for the financial year 2024-25 online by December 31 will receive a 10% rebate.
Launched under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Abhijeet Chaudhari, the scheme also offers a 5% rebate to property holders opting for offline payments.
The initiative received an overwhelming response from citizens, and deputy commissioner (revenue) Milind Meshram has appealed to property holders to make the most of the opportunity before the deadline.
Meanwhile, NMC’s property tax department in Mangalwari zone issued notices to 11 property owners on Friday, demanding the clearance of dues amounting to Rs 30.96 lakh. Out of these, eight property owners settled their outstanding amounts, contributing Rs 17.08 lakh. However, three property owners failed to pay their dues, prompting the NMC to attach their properties, which have a combined market value of Rs 2.75 crore. These defaulters have been granted a 21-day window to settle their dues, failing which their properties will be auctioned.
Similar actions were undertaken by the Hanuman Nagar zone, where property seizure notices were also issued to tax defaulters.
