LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority will conduct a forensic audit of the township projects developed or proposed by Ansal API to investigate financial transactions, land records and pending development works.
LDA appointed a private firm to conduct the audit, which will examine the builder’s property records, public facilities and the status of internal and external development works. The audit will verify whether the builder delivered on promises made to homebuyers and if any financial irregularities occurred.
According to officials, thousands of homebuyers have been waiting for years to get possession of their homes or basic amenities like roads, water and electricity due to delays in various schemes. The audit would help identify if the builder diverted funds meant for development work.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the authority’s Rs 400 crore is stuck in the project. Despite filing a recovery plea with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the matter remains unresolved due to the builder’s ongoing insolvency case. LDA is now preparing to file an appeal with stronger documents to reclaim the amount.
Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob has also ordered an inquiry into the matter. A committee has been formed by LDA to gather information on the land sold by the builder through the consortium model. The committee includes a sub-registrar from the registration office to verify land registration details.
If the audit reveals irregularities and LDA recovers its funds, it may expedite pending development works, bringing relief to affected homebuyers. However, the final outcome will depend on the audit findings and legal proceedings in the NCLT.
