LUCKNOW: Amid protests by the residents, over 30 illegal encroachments were razed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) near Balu Adda on Butler road, located in front of Dhenumati Apartment, on Monday.
LDA officials said the encroachers failed to comply despite repeated warnings to vacate the area. Subsequently, LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar instructed the LDA team to carry out a drive to remove the encroachments.
The LDA team under the command of nazul officer Sanjay Singh demolished about 24 illegal structures during the operation. Encroachers were given three days to vacate the area, failing which another drive will be conducted to clear the remaining encroachments and demolish any illegal structures still standing, officials said.
LDA secretary Vivek Srivastava said, “The land, measuring approximately 2,59,000 sqft, located next to Naimisharanya guest house, is classified as nazul land. This land was illegally occupied by some individuals who set up tin sheds and shanties to conduct businesses involving scrap, furniture, tyres and hardware materials. Despite several warnings, the structures were not removed, which led to their demolition by LDA teams. An additional three days have been given to the encroachers to remove their belongings, failing which a more intensive drive will be conducted.”
