KANPUR: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has traced about 4.5788 hectares of land which the people have not only occupied but also managed to get mutated in their names.
KDA is presently engaged in expanding its land bank, and while conducting a land audit during this process, the land department discovered property valued at Rs 1.69 billion that had been fraudulently mutated in the names of occupants.
According to KDA sources, the land department is conducting audits of various properties across different schemes and identifying vacant land under its ownership. The department discovered the land in Panki Gangaganj where the property was illegally occupied, and tehsil employees conspired with occupants to issue forged khatauni.
A team headed by Ravi Pratap Singh, OSD of Zone-II, was formed to investigate the matter. The team identified 68 farmers who had occupied and obtained mutation through revenue paper khatauni for 4.5788 hectares of land worth Rs 1.68 billion. The OSD said that a special report had been sought from the land bank team and the legal cell instructed to file cases against the illegal occupants.
