AHMEDABAD: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel told real estate developers “not to worry” and to submit objections and suggestions regarding new jantri rates. He said this a property show in Ahmedabad on Friday.

The CM inaugurated the Credai Ahmedabad Property Show 2025 and asked developers to ensure that buyers benefit from schemes provided by the govt.

He urged developers to submit their objections and suggestions, promising a decision that would be in the best interests of the sector.

This statement comes after the state govt doubled jantri rates in 2023 and recently proposed revisions. Real estate experts interpreted the CM’s remarks as an indication of potential relief for the sector.

During his address, the CM emphasized the govt’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by citizens, aligning with the ‘Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas’ mantra. He acknowledged the crucial role of builders and real estate entrepreneurs in India’s development and assured them of continued govt support.

He highlighted the need to revise the concept of affordable housing and expressed a willingness to discuss ways to increase the availability of smaller units, such as 1BHK and 2BHK, while considering developers’ requirements. The CM urged developers to ensure that all govt relief benefits, including jantri exemptions and FSI concessions, ultimately benefit homebuyers. He encouraged the construction of homes within the Rs 10-50 lakh price range.

Dhruv Patel, the president of the Ahmedabad chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai), demanded that FSI calculation and plan approval processes align with the Real Estate Regulation and Development (RERA) Act, emphasizing the need for greater transparency in the real estate market.

Credai national chairman Manoj Gaur, president Boman Irani, national president (elect) Shekhar Patel, and Quality Council of India (QCI) chairman Jaxay Shah discussed leadership and growth in the real estate sector at Gujcon 2025, which was attended by around 700 developers of the state.
