NEW DELHI: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has recently extended the deadline for payment of the final instalment for over 1,800 premium flats in Dwarka 19B, which were sold through an e-auction.
The new deadline for making the 25% payment of the total value is now Sept 30, Earlier, it was Aug 31.
The authority said the decision was in response to buyers’ requests as they needed more time to arrange for money. The deadline was pushed back also because finishing work is going on in the flats.
Buyers complained that DDA has yet to complete essential arrangements, such as providing electricity and water connections, installing the main entrance gate, appointing security staff and developing recreation areas. They have written to officials, fearing that the deadline for transferring possession might get pushed back by a month going by speed of work at the site. DDA has already extended the deadline once in July.
An allottee who has made 100% payment is still not sure about shifting to the apartment. “We bought a three-BHK flat through e-auction and were thinking about shifting during Dussehra or Diwali. But at present, there is no electricity or water supply, and the power discom is busy laying lines and activating substations. There are no security guards, and the entry to the apartment is done through a side gate. The main gate is yet to be made operational. Forget about Diwali, looking at the speed of work, I don’t think we can enter our flats this year,” the allottee said on the condition of anonymity.Another allottee, who is yet to pay the 25% instalment, questioned the authority for taking the maintenance charges in advance (in March) when even the initial work has not been completed. “At present, we are paying EMIs for the loan taken to buy the flat as well as bearing expenses of the place we are staying in. The access from HIG and Super HIG to the community hall has still not been provided. Work is also pending at the sports facilities,” the second allottee said.
Along with 14 penthouses, the site in Dwarka Sector 19B has 1,858 properties in 13 towers. Among these are 170 Super HIG flats and 946 HIG flats.
When questioned, a DDA official stated that due to demand from many of the allottees of Sector 19B Golf View condos for early allotment of flats, Delhi Development Authority handed over the possession at the earliest.
“However, there were some allottees who subsequently requested an extension of time for making the balance 25% payment of flats in order to enable them to make necessary financial arrangements. Also, the final finishing work is taking some time. As a result, the decision was taken to extend the time by one month,” the official said.
