AYODHYA: The Ayodhya administration in the midnight of Monday-Tuesday turned the bulldozers towards the posh Saptsaagar colony, claimed to have been developed on eight bighas of mythological pond Saptsaagar that was encroached and filled.
There are more than a dozen mythological ponds in Ayodhya mentioned in various religious texts but have vanished in the due course of time after being encroached upon and sold by land sharks.
After this bulldozer operation, a dispute has emerged that individuals who acquired plots on this land through Ayodhya-based property dealers and constructed their dwellings possess legitimate documentation, including mutation records, blueprints approved by the Ayodhya Development Authority, and financial institutions have sanctioned home loans for construction on these plots. These houses have now been demolished.
Manisha Gupta claimed that she had purchased land in 2018 in Saptsaagar colony. Her newly built house was now demolished. She said that after she purchased the plot, registry and mutation was done in her favour by administrative officials at the Faizabad tehsil. Following this, the Ayodhya Development Authority approved the map according to the boundary and development fees were paid. A bank loan was also obtained for building construction based on a survey. Despite this, action was taken without any notice, she alleged.
Samajwadi Party’s Faizabad MP, Awadhesh Prasad held a press conference over the bulldozer action of the govt, alleging that despite having all valid documents, the newly built houses of the Saptsaagar colony were demolished in the midnight without giving any notice to the occupants, making many homeless. Prasad announced that the SP would launch a movement in Ayodhya for the victims of bulldozer action.
Sub-district magistrate of Ayodhya, Vikas Dubey said that the Saptsaagar land belongs to plot number 67, while the land of the individuals is registered under plot number 95, who have constructed on Saptsaagar plot.
