VIJAYAWADA: State govt has asked the district collectors to immediately open command control centres in the districts to monitor the sand sales. Principal secretary (mines and geology) Mukesh Kumar Meena reviewed the sand stocks position with the district collectors through a videoconference on Friday.

He asked the district collectors to regularly review the sand sales with the field teams to avoid hurdles in supplies. He wanted the district command control centres should be set upon the lines of state command control centre.

“There should not be any lenience on the part of sand exploration, stocking and sales. Take all required measures to ensure free flow of sand to all the needy people,” said Meena.

He directed the district collectors to get ready to implement the new sand policy to be rolled out from Sep 11. He said that the district collectors need not to oblige any political references with regard to the sand supplies. “Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that there should not be any political interference in sand mining and supplies. Take stringent measures against those who violates the rules,” said Meena.

He said that the govt is working on the new policy to ensure uniform price across the state excluding the transport cost. He said the sand could be booked through the mobile application right from home and track the stock arrival through the GPS fitted vehicle. He said that a staffer would be kept available in the village secretariat exclusively to handle sand bookings to facilitate those who could not book through online.

He asked the district collectors to release daily stock bulletins to the media to create awareness among the public. He said that free sand is chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s promise and it should be implemented without any slip-ups. He said that joint collector should be held responsible for the all issues related to the sand.

Director of Mines and Geology (DMG) and APMDC MD, Pravin Kumar said that they would provide all the details of sand booking, pricing, transporter details in the upcoming portal.

He asked the district collectors to complete the empanelment of the transport operators so that the entire list of vehicles would be displayed on the portal. He said that they were working to make the end users satisfied with the new policy. He asked the district collectors to take feedback from the third-party agencies to ensure transparency in the sand supplies.
