NOIDA: Three persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly forging documents to sell a Rs 95-crore property in Greater Noida’s Shahberi. Their plan, which had been in the works for over two years, was foiled after the actual owner found the scam and filed a complaint.
Police said the accused — Rakesh Kumar (45) from Haryana, Sirajuddin (70) from Meerut and Mahendra Kumar (38) from Bulandshahr in UP — not only created fake paperwork but also found a man resembling the legitimate landholder to carry out the fraud.
DCP (central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said Mujahid Hussain, president of the Dasna Nagar panchayat, alerted Bisrakh police on Feb 28. “The gang not only forged documents but also recruited people resembling the actual landholder,” Avasthy said. In this case, they found Sirajuddin, who bore a resemblance to Hussain, and planned to have him meet potential buyers.
“Sirajuddin was promised Rs 40 crore to impersonate the owner, but we arrested them before they could execute the deal,” the DCP added.
