NASHIK: There has been a 33% rise in the civic body’s collection of property tax to reach Rs234 crore by Feb end of this current financial year April 2024-March 2025. The increase is in comparison to tax collected between April and Feb last financial year 2023-24.

With just one more month left for the current FY to come to an end, NMC has to collect property tax worth Rs16 crore more to reach its target of Rs250 crore.

The Rs234 crore collection by Feb 28 marked the highest ever property tax collection by the civic body since its establishment around four decades ago. NMC collected the highest property tax of Rs 207 crore during the last financial year 2023-24.

The 8% concession introduced by the NMC this FY for annual property tax payment in one stroke in the first quarter (April-June) and an additional 1% concession online payments led to positive outcomes with the civic body collecting Rs100 crore between just April and June.

The amnesty scheme also yielded good results for the civic body. This is the reason the civic body could collect a total of Rs234 crore in property tax by the end of February in the current fiscal. NMC administration is expecting around Rs 20 crore in property tax collection in March.
