Ukraine will have to make ‘compromises’ in Russia truce: Trump to Zelenskyy- Homevior

Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy

United States President Donald Trump told Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday that Kyiv must accept “compromises” for a peace agreement with Moscow.
“You can’t do any deals without compromises. So certainly he’s going to have to make some compromises, but hopefully they won’t be as big as some people think,” Trump stated during their White House meeting.
Zelenskyy met Trump at the White House. Trump greeted him at the doors, the two men shook hands and stood there briefly as reporters shouted questions before they headed inside.

In the Oval Office President Trump announced an agreement on rare earth elements will be signed later this afternoon.
At Oval Office meeting, Trump praised the extraordinary courage of Ukrainian soldiers and highlighted a significant economic deal between the two nations.
“It is a big commitment from the United States,” Trump said. He noted that America lacks the abundant rare earth minerals found in Ukraine, which are essential for US artificial intelligence development and military weaponry.
Zelenskyy calls Putin killer, says there should be no compromise with him
Zelenskyy displayed photographs of war atrocities to Trump and, referring to President Vladimir Putin, emphasised that there should be “no compromises with a killer on our territory.”
He described how “Crazy Russians” had forcibly relocated Ukrainian children and perpetrated war crimes throughout their three-year invasion of his nation.
Although they disagreed on the matter of concessions needed to end the conflict, Zelenskyy expressed his belief, stating “I think President Trump is on our side.”
Trump also said that he hoped that he would be remembered as the peacemakers.
“I hope I’m going to be remembered as a peacemaker. This is. This would be a great thing if we could do this. I’m doing this to save lives more than anything else,” Trump said while talking with reporters at Oval Office.

During the Washington visit, Zelenskyy’s team plans to establish a significant economic partnership with the United States, focusing on Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction funding. This agreement would establish long-term cooperation between both nations.
At the scheduled meeting with Trump in Washington, Zelenskyy aims to obtain concrete security commitments from the United States to protect Ukraine from potential future Russian military actions.
The Washington visit will include the signing of a major economic accord between Zelenskyy’s delegation and the United States, specifically designed to support Ukraine’s post-war rebuilding efforts, creating an enduring partnership between the two nations.
