PUNE: Hours after Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s property tax department officials said that they may seal a four BHK 1,972sqft flat on Aundh Road in Wakad in Pimpri Chinchwad, owned by former chief of Parli Municipal Council Valmik Karad and his wife Manjali, over pending property tax of Rs 1.55 lakh, the dues were paid online.
Karad is an accused in the abduction and murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
Earlier in the evening, Avinash Shinde, assistant municipal commissioner and head of PCMC’s property tax department, told TOI, “The owners have not paid property tax since June 2021. We issued them a tax dues notice on Nov 24, 2024. As per procedure, they get 21 days to pay. Since it has not been paid, we will soon seal the property. If the tax is unpaid even after sealing, we can initiate an auction of the flat.”
PCMC records show that the flat is registered with the property tax department in the name of Valmik Baburao Karad and Manjali Valmikrao Karad in June 2021. The other is a 2 BHK, 786sqft flat located on Pink City Road in Wakad bought in April 2016 in the name of Manjali Karad.
