When asked about his rift with Kapil Sharma, Surender Sharma shared, “There isn’t any reason for the rift. He has done many shows with me when he wasn’t popular. Kapil Sharma needs a few people to make them laugh. I don’t need it. He had even called me for his show but I didn’t go. I told him that he was earning so much then even I wanted remuneration. He told me that my appearance on his show would add more popularity to my name. I refused to do that. The producers had contacted me but I didn’t go.”
He further added, “I am not saying Kapil doesn’t know comedy, but to sustain his act he needs the support of 3-4 people so that he can talk about them. He cannot stand alone for comedy is what I am saying.”
In the conversation, Surender was even asked about the rumour that he charges more than the other poets for Kavi Sammelan. To which Surender refused and shared, “No, that isn’t true, Kumar Vishwas has such hefty budgets, he takes around 25-30 lakhs for 3 Kavi Sammelans, Shailesh Lodha charges around 12-13 lakhs. I have been asked by many why I charge much less than them. I told them that there was a time when even I used to charge more than Gopaldas Neeraj ji.”
Surender then talks about Raju Srivastava, he said, “Raju’s demise happened because of his lifestyle. He already had 6-7 stents and still he was going in the gym. Once you have stents in your body, you need to take more care of yourself.”
Recently, Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna in an interview explained why he has never appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show, calling it “obscene” and heavily reliant on inappropriate humor. He criticized the show, saying, “I see obscenity in that show. Double-meaning dialogues and below-the-belt jokes dominate the content. While people laugh, I don’t find it decent.”
