PATNA: During a raid carried out by the mines and geology department and Patna district administration, a total of 167 vehicles were checked, including 161 trucks and seven tractors, at multiple locations in the Danapur sub-division area, including Shivala More, Shahpur, Bihta-Sarmera Road and Bihta-Ranitalab Road, among other places, on Saturday night.

The vehicle-checking drive, led by city superintendent of police (West), Sharath RS, was carried on the instruction of Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh for prevention of illegal mining, transportation, and storage of sand.

The SP said three tractors loaded with sand were seized under the Bihta police station area late on Saturday night. He said a tractor was seized for transporting wet sand, while another had an expired transport ‘challan’. In the third vehicle, the driver could not produce any documents related to it. “The vehicles were seized, and further action will be taken against their owners,” he said.

As part of the raid, a vehicle carrying sand was stopped under Neora police station area. “It was found that the transport ‘challan’ of the vehicle had expired. It was seized and parked on the Neora police station premises,” the police said.

Deputy superintendent of police, Danapur I and II, along with station house officers of Khagaul, Neura, Shahpur, and Bihta, were involved in the vehicle-checking drive along with the police force.
